MC – RICHARD GRATION
Richard Gration has been an executive committee member in his Landmark – Harry Seidler – apartment building for 10 years, including a year as Secretary and six years as Chairman. He believes in and encourages active owner involvement in the decision-making and management of the scheme’s annual budget of nearly $3 million.
With strata living becoming an increasingly popular choice for people around Australia, Richard believes that we need to ensure owners have the appropriate knowledge and information available to them to get the full benefit and enjoyment of living in a strata community. That process begins with making sure owners know exactly what it is that they are buying.
By day, Richard is a barrister specialising in commercial litigation and strata law. He knows all too well the difficulties owners and owners corporations face in disputes against experienced and well-resourced developers, builders, insurers, strata managers, caretakers and owners.
Suzie Broome leads the Strata and Community Title legal practice at Makinson & d’Apice with Beverley Hoskinson-Green. She began her career as a senior Commonwealth public servant in a number of departments and during that Federal employment Suzie was involved in significant government enquiries making her well versed in navigating her way around bureaucracies at Local, State and Federal levels.
After an appearance in the Industrial Relations Commission in early 1998 while representing an owners corporation Suzie realised that strata law was in fact a complex, challenging and varied area of practice. Suzie brings highly developed strategic thinking to strata and community scheme disputes particularly in circumstances where local councils and government departments are involved.
Suzie holds post graduate qualifications in international and administrative law and advises on complex strata law, building defects and community title matters for owners, owners corporations and strata managers and runs all matters requiring advocacy in the CTTT, Local District and Supreme Courts.
Liza Perera is a strata owner speaking of her own experience and with her own professional financial industry background. She will speak of what it means to be an owner, an occupier or an investor from a financial perspective – and what this might mean to you when buying new or off the plan.
Group Managing Director of the Integrated Consultancy Group of Companies Chris Mo’ane has over 35 years of experience with the construction and strata sectors and has held positions on several government corporation boards including the Construction industry training advisory board NSW. He is proud of the fact that Integrated continues to maintain the highest levels of service delivery, is a leader in the fields of engineering, building consultancy, contracts administration, along with other core services to the strata, construction and government sectors and remains at the forefront in developing new systems and procedures in the Strata Title area.
As well as the entrepreneurial spirit for which he is so well known and his commitment to Corporate Governance Chris and the Integrated Consultancy Group of Companies have helped to design and construct a 100 bed orphanage in Sri Lanka following the tsunami which devastated the Asia Pacific region. They continue to assist with ongoing costs of the orphanage.
Matilda works in the New Business team at Dynamic Property Services. Since joining the company in 2006, Matilda’s focus has been on prestige residential and complex mixed development properties. These have included The New Rouse Hill, Lumiere/Regent Place, Sydney Wharf, The Village, Balgowlah and Central Park. Matilda’s contribution continues until such time as management of a project vests in the new owners and an ongoing Dynamic manager is appointed.
Matilda has also been involved in the transition management of existing properties that move to Dynamic and to ensure stringent quality is maintained at all times. Schemes that have transitioned to Dynamic through Matilda have included Ranelagh, St Vincent’s Clinic, Paddington Green and St Margaret’s. Matilda has also been involved in the management of two schemes where Dynamic was appointed by CTTT order.
