Good Practice Guide for Facilities and Building Managers

This guide covers all key areas relevant to those involved with facilities management in multi-unit residential buildings, regardless of size, complexity or location, focusing on common areas and shared services. Its purpose is to provide a common understanding of issues and good practice requirements, helping to bridge knowledge gaps between the various stakeholders involved in the development, construction, operations, maintenance, management and administration of multi-unit residential buildings.

City of Melbourne was the primary sponsor of this guide through its Hi-RES project, which aimed to develop and test solutions to help transform Victoria’s apartment buildings to become more sustainable.  It was developed by the Facility Management Association of Australia (FMA Australia) with the aid of a Project Reference Group that included the Owners Corporation Network of Australia, and covers much more than sustainability.
