The State Government is today responding to a parliamentary inquiry on the short-term rental industry, with some unit owners calling for a ban on Airbnb hosts from their buildings. The 18-month inquiry fell short of recommending the move but called for a single set of rules to regulate the short-term rental industry. It found that home owners should be able to let out spare rooms for cash on Airbnb and other platforms without risking council fines. Owners Corporation Network's Stephen Goddard doesn't want short-term letting banned but believes unit owners should be given a say on what happens in their building.
