Phil Gall, Chairman, Owners Corporation Network
Phil will cover how the Owners Corporation Network can help deal with flammable cladding. The benefits of working together, working with Government and OCN's flammable cladding action group.
Phil has degrees in science, engineering and business administration. His career included reform and regulation of the electricity industry, managing pricing regulation and business strategy for a large electricity company as well as private consulting. Over the past 10 years he has served on a number of Strata Committees as both Treasurer and Chairman. He has managed a home warranty insurance claim which settled for almost $3 million and oversaw the subsequent building rectification works.
Peter Carter, Associate Director, Core Project Consulting
Peter will discuss technical aspects of cladding compliance including reporting requirements, mitigation of costs, practical aspects of remediation works and options available to owners.
Having been engaged in Facade design; manufacture; installation and certification throughout the Asia Pacific region and Middle East over the last 20 years, Peter gas gained a deep insight into the machinations and foibles associated with Facade remediation, procurement and project delivery; yes there is scar tissue and yes it is from the commercial construction industry.

Paul will discuss finance options available for owners needing to fund remediation work for cladding.

Julian Schimmel, Principal Lawyer, Maurice Blackburn Lawyers
Julian will discuss legal options, with a specific focus on the class action procedure as a means for owners to recover the costs of work to remediate cladding.
With more than 11 years experience in complex class action litigation, Julian has acted in a wide range of group claims with particular expertise in product liability claims. Julian recently concluded two class actions in the Federal Court of Australia in relation to medical devices, one of which led to a landmark $250 million settlement, and he is now conducting a consumer class action against Volkswagen, Audi and Skoda arising from the international dieselgate emissions issue.
