TOPIC: Critical Times for Lift Emergency Phones
The National Broadband Network rollout is in full swing and almost one in two properties are ‘nbn™ ready, meaning the copper lines will soon be cut off. Building owners need to migrate key services to ensure they are operational at all times. One critical service that will be impacted is the lift emergency telephone service. In the event of a network outage, your emergency lift phone will not operate. You need to find a cost-effective phone line supplier that can guarantee your service.
Designing a system that WILL work in a power outage: As lift consultants, Equity was invited to be part of the national working group to ensure lift passenger safety post NBN roll-out. To keep things simple, the industry is tending toward wireless 3G technology using a dual modem, dual sim card solution, although there are a multitude of differing circumstances and consequent solution permutations.
Grant Morrison has over 30 years’ experience in the IT&T industry with expertise in Traditional Voice technologies, IP Network Infrastructure, Network Management and Unified Communications. Prior to joining VoIPFORCE, Grant was with Alcatel Australia and has worked extensively with Federal and State Governments, Telstra Corporation and industry service providers. Although an expert on NBN’s pipeline he dreams of Hawaii’s “Pipeline” and currently resides at Norah Head on the NSW Central Coast.
Rex Henning has 30 years of service in the lift industry with experience in installations, service and modernisations. He has worked across four continents for leading global companies, including the Schindler Group. On behalf of investors, Rex has taken the lead in several start-up companies and divisions, developing and implementing process and quality management systems. Rex moved to Australia in 2008 where he has worked on major modernisation projects, including the first time introduction of destination control traffic management systems to several iconic commercial high rise buildings in Sydney.
