- executive committee members to know their rights and responsibilities in managing their strata scheme

PROGRAMME
The day will comprise four sessions, each facilitated by a specialist.
In each session the speaker will provide relevant information and set the topics for group work; participants will break into groups and work up solutions to each topic; and the groups will compare outcomes.

THE DAY’S THEME WILL BE
Gina is a new owner in her building called Utopia Towers. She notices some management processes which to her seem strange. She is elected to the executive committee and finds that the developer has retained more control than she realised – the service providers have long-term and onerous contracts - and she doesn’t seem to be able to exert enough influence.
What does the law require her to do, as a committee member? How does she influence good management processes? The finances seem to be out of control, so how can she fix them so she doesn’t pay inflated levies each year and lose value on her investment?... and then the neighbour above her apartment installs a timber floor and she has noise problems... and the building seems to have a lot of defects… and what is all this about the greening of buildings?
